Abstract
699,919. Unit air heaters &c. CORY CORPORATION. March 5 1951, No. 5328/51. Class 137 [Also in Group XXVI] A housing for a combined electric fan and heater comprises two complementary grilled shells releasably secured together and pivotally attached to a support. A front shell F and a rear shell R, each having square reticulations for the passage of air and preferably made of plastic, abut along a line s. The abutting edges are desirably rabbeted. Thickened parts 20 are provided with recesses 21 which are undercut at 22 and receive dowel plates 25 which hold the two shells in alignment. Bosses 60, 62 receive bolts 59 which secure the shells together. The driving motor M of the fan is attached to the shell R by a strip 15 and bolts 16. The strap 15 may be extended, as shown; to each side of the housing and attached at 26 to the dowel plates 25 which are thus held in place on the shell R so as to facilitate assembly. Legs A, B are bent arcuately at their upper ends so as to fit between cup washers 40 and flat washers 47. A gap of 90 degrees or more is formed in the flange 41 of each cup washer 40 for the passage of the legs, which can swing apart to a distance limited by the extent of the gap. Pivot pins 46 attach the washers and the ends 26 of the strap 15 to the dowel plates 25. Spring washers 48 are included to hold the housing in any position to which it is tilted.
