Abstract

699,715. Hypodermic injectors. BISHOP & CO. PLATINUM WORKS. J. Sept. 20, 1951 [Sept. 26, 1950], No. 22060/51. Class 81 (ii). A hypodermic syringe is provided with a glass barrel having an integral glass tip with an axial bore, a metal cap receiving the glass tip with a press fit and having a nozzle also with an axial bore for the reception of a hypodermic needle, a deformable disc being placed between the end face of the glass tip and the bottom of the metal cap, an axial bore in the disc being in axial alignment with the bores in the glass tip and needlereceiving nozzle, the disc being made of tough durable non-toxic material capable of standing sterilising temperatures and being chemically inert to medicaments used in the syringe. A glass syringe barrel 5 has a glass tip 9 having an axial bore 8. A metal cap 10 with a needlereceiving nozzle 13 having an axial bore 16 is pressed on to the glass tip 9, a disc 18 of superpolyamide e.g. "nylon," "teflon," or trifluorochloroethylene being placed between the end face 11 of the glass tip 9 and the bottom 17 of the socket 12 of the metal cap 10. A hole of the same diameter as the bores 8, 16 of the glass tip 9 and the needle-receiving nozzle 13 is then drilled through the disc 18. In a modification (not shown) the socket of the metal cap is provided with a rib concentric with and surrounding the nozzle bore.
