Abstract
699,034. Neutron irradiation. MINISTER OF SUPPLY. Feb. 20 1952 [Feb. 20, 1951], No. 4069/51. Class 39(iv) A radioactive form of an element is produced by an nγ reaction by irradiating with neutrons an ion exchange substance of low rate of exchange having the element in exchange positions, the irradiated substance then being washed to remove the radioactive isotope. The ion exchange material may be an alumino silicate and the element may be sodium, potassium, copper, strontium, or lanthanum. In the Provisional Specification a complex e.g. cupferron, may be used in place of the ion exchange substance.
