An extrusion machine comprises a base frame 10 (Fig. 1) on which. is mounted a fixed but changeable die-ring 11, provided with perforations 12 only a few of such perforations being shown in Fig. 3, and having a cam-like member 13 rotating inside. This member 13 has two or more circumferentially spaced cam surfaces (Fig. 3) and also has fixed to it a sealing plate 18 in which are apertures through, which the meal to be extruded is passed into the cavities 20. Mounted on sealing plate 18 is a hopper 21, having central cone 22 and having located above it a shoot 23 carrying stirring members 24. Knives 25 are rotatable around the outside of fixed die-ring 11, and cut off the extrusions after they have been expelled. These extrusions fall into channel 26 from which leads a shoot 27 to a delivery opening 28. Renewable wearing strips may be provided on the faces most subject to abrasion. The thickness of the perforated member and the diameter of the perforations, which may be radial or non-radial, may be varied. Modifications described are: (i) The outer cylindrical ring is made to rotate, the inner camlike member being stationary; scrapers may be mounted within the outer member to keep its surface clean, and compression plates arranged partially around the outer member to increase the degree of compression of the extruded bodies; (ii) the die-ring may rotate in one direction and the inner member in the other; (iii) the outer member forms the cam-shaped member, the inner member forming the die-ring; (iv) the perforations are in the inner cam-shaped member (which is hollow) instead of in the outer member.
