698,437. Hedge-cutters. ALLEN & SONS (OXFORD). Ltd., J. March 5, 1952 [March 7, 1951], No. 5498/51. Class 6(ii) Hedge - cutter and like blades 36 are attached to a stirrup 31 arranged in a plane at right-angles to the blades and suspended by a cable 29 from a counterbalanced arm 27. A triangular frame 14, 15, 16 mounted on the soleplate 13 of a motor scythe supports the telescopic rod 21 on which the arm 27 is pivoted, the height being varied by a crank 22 which winds or unwinds a cord 23 over the pulley 24. Current for reciprocating the blades 36 is supplied to a motor 34 through a cable 37 from a generator 40 driven by the scythe motor.
