Abstract
<PICT:0697523/III/1> A dry-cleaning machine comprises a perforated cylinder 4 rotatable in a fixed outer casing 1 and having end plates provided with supporting trunnions, at least one of which (7) is hollow and communicates with grooves 12 formed radially in the inner surface of the adjacent end plates 5, the grooves 12 being closed by a second plate 5x disposed over the inner surface of the end plate 5, and each groove communicating at its outer end with a hollow lifter 9 extending longitudinally within the cylinder 4, the lifters 9 having perforations 9x therein through which clean spirit supplied through the trunnion 7 and grooves 12 is discharged into the cylinder, and the outer casing 1 having an outlet (not shown), for the used spirit. The lifters may comprise tubular members 9 secured to the longitudinal edges of radially disposed lifter plates 10. The cleaning spirit may be introduced at both ends of the cylinder 4, both trunnions being made hollow, and the tubular members 9 may be provided with a mid-way partition.
