Abstract

697,066. Electric motors. TASTES, M. DE. Nov. 13, 1951 [Nov. 14, 1950], No. 26513/51. Class 35. A motor has a rotor carrying a primary winding intermittently excited by D.C. and a secondary winding having a switch device, the air gap between the rotor and stator being of variable width depending upon the position of the rotor. Fig. 1 shows a motor having a stator S having the inner periphery made up of two cylindrical segments AD, BC and of two spiral segments AB, CD. The rotor R carries a primary winding L intermittently excited by D.C. from a oommutator T and a secondary winding l the circuit of which is closed by a switching device which operates in such a way as to cause the winding l to collect by induction the break current energy of the primary winding L. The commutator T comprises a slip-ring b and an insulating ring carrying two contact segments m-w. Fig. 2 shows several rotors having primary and secondary windings L<SP>1</SP>, l<SP>1</SP>, L<SP>2</SP>, l<SP>2</SP>, &c. electrically connected in succession through commutators T<SP>1</SP>, T<SP>2</SP>, &c. The rotors and commutators are all mounted on a common shaft, and there can be one stator with several rotors or several stators with several rotors. The D.C. to a particular primary winding is interrupted each time the rotor reaches the zone of narrowest air-gap. The rotors are shifted angularly relative to one another so that only one rotor is excited at a time.
