696,899. Magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 4, 1951 [July 4, 1950]. No. 16609/50.. Addition to 685,227. Class 40 (ii). Drawings to Specification.. An improvement in the method and apparatus for eliminating or substantially reducing spurious magnetizations in a magnetic medium as in the parent Specification, comprises the employment of an alternating magnetic field produced by means normally utilized during a recording operation to produce a high frequency recording bias. In the embodiment described, the tape is driven past the erazing, recording and reproducing heads in that order, and during reproduction the high frequency biasing signal, normally only operative during recording, continues to be fed to the recording head during reproduction.
