696,176. Artificial breasts. BERNHARDT, E. H. Oct. 23, 1951 [Oct. 27, 1950], No. 24703/51. Class 141. [Also in Group VI] An artificial breast comprises a flexible liquid-retaining cell 14 having a liquid filler 23 therein, a flexible envelope 19 enclosing said cell and a quantity of liquid absorbent material 25 between the envelope and the cell, the absorbent material comprising a substance which, when mixed with the filler, forms a sealing agent for punctures in the cell. The filler 23 may include an agent producing foam 24 to reduce sound and may comprise an aqueous solution of methylcellulose. The absorbent material 25 may comprise powdered methytcellulose or sodium carboxymethylcellulose. The structure may be retained in the cup 12 of a brassiÞre by a pocketlike retainer 15 and a flap 16.
