695,683. Making contact springs. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Dec. 3, 1951 [Dec. 6, 1950], No. 28296/51. Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv). Forging; riveting.-Contact springs for electrical apparatus are provided with contact points by feeding a contact strip above a prepunched spring through a punching machine to punch out a contact point and to insert it into the hole in the spring. The contact strip may have a facing of contact metal. In Fig. 1 a spring 15 with pre-punched hole is positioned between a punch 11 and a die 16 with a composite contact strip 13, 14. On depression of the punch a faced contact is punched from the strip and forced into the hole in the strip. The contact is then riveted and shaped. The spring strip 50, Fig. 8, is provided with slots 51 forming attached springs 52 with preformed holes 31, 32, 33, 34. The strip 50 is fed to the left and a bimetallic contact-strip is fed over the holes 34 and the contact points are punched, secured and shaped. The spring is then detached.
