Abstract

695,246. Mounting electric motors. AKTIESELSKABET FISKER & NIELSEN. June 14, 1951 [July 4, 1950], No. 14146/51. Class 35. [Also in Group XXVIII] A vertical vacuum cleaner has a motor-fan unit suspended in a detachable dust container cover 3 by a yieldable Z-shaped ring 9 having an outer part 10 secured to a lower edge of the cover 3 and an inner part 11 secured to a quasi-shaped bucket 12 bearing the said unit, the ring 9 also serves to ensure air tightness between the pressure and suction chambers. A sealing ring 7 secured by a ring 14 of substantially Z-section is mounted on an upper ring 5 carrying the filter 4. The outer part of the ring 5 encloses and secures a sealing ring 6 resting on the upper edge of the dust container 1. The motor-fan unit is carried by a resilient ring 16 located on a shoulder 15 formed on the bearer 12. A clamping member(s) 21 consisting of a bolt 22 and a spring 24 connects the motor casing to the bottom of the bearer 12 so as to keep the motor in its place with respect to the bearer 12. The lower end of the motor shaft 28 is journalled in a bearing 29 which permits the shaft 28 to rock during rotation, and the bearing outer ring 33 rests on a universal joint device so that the bearing can rock. The top bearing has an outer ring 31 secured in a ring 32 of resilient material. The bearer 12 is advantageously made of electrical insulating material, e.g. synthetic resin. Also this bearer 12 may have one or more channels 59 to carry cable(s) 60. These cables are led air-tight through the ring 9. The dust container 1 may be divided into two parts, e.g. on line 82-82 which parts may be joined by flanges securing a sealing ring. The ring 9 connecting the bearer 12 to the cover 3 may be a flat ring. Specification 675,921, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
