Abstract

694,758. Electric condensers. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd. April 25, 1952 [April 27, 1951], No. 9976/51. Class 37. A rectangular metal case for an electrical condenser is hermetically sealed at the terminal plate by turning the lip of the case down into a resilient washer assembled with the terminal plate. In one form of construction, Fig. 1, the terminal plate 1 fits into the case 2 and is made with a groove 5 into which the case is shaped. The rim 6 of the case is turned down inwardly through 180 degrees so that it bites into a resilient washer 7 lying on top of the plate 1, by means of a tool 9, whilst the sides of the case are gripped by four jaws 10. In modifications the terminal plate may be made with a step instead of a groove, or the groove in the wall of the case may fit into a reinforcing member instead of the terminal plate, which may thus be made considerably thinner. In another embodiment, Fig. 7, the rim of the case 2 is turned through 90 degrees into a resilient washer 14 in a groove 13 in the terminal plate 1 which extends above the case.
