[Also in Group XXV] An elastic binding device for holding a lid upon a box or for similar purposes comprises a rubber ring, Fig. 1, having slits 1 terminating in two central portions 4. The ring is shown in use in Fig. 5, and the use of a modified ring having two slits on each side of the central portions 4 is illustrated in Fig. 7. The ring may be cut from an annulus and may have check circles at the end of each slit, or it may be moulded, the limbs 2, 3 having oval or circular section. The central portions 4 may be reinforced with canvas or metal.
