Abstract

A semi-elasticated suitcase harness is a single assemblage of both elasticated webbing material and 12 and non-elasticated webbing or canvas or polyester or similar material 10 so designed that by stretching the assemblage around a suitcase in the recommended manner it will relieve stress on the suitcase securing devices, thus enhancing their durability and in the event of failure of the suitcase securing devices, the suitcase will not burst open. <IMAGE>

Description

SUITCASE HARNESS This invention relates to a semi-elasticated suitcase harness.
A suitcase, when in use, is susceptible to bursting open due to the failure of the securing devices as fitted by the manufacturers, such as zips, buckles and lockable catches.
According to the present invention there is provided a semi-elasticated suitcase harness comprising a single complete assemblage of elasticated webbing material and non-elasticated webbing or canvas or polyester or similar material.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the layout of a harness.
Figure 2 illustrates a typical detail of connections between elasticated loops and half-loops and nonelasticated side panels.
Fisure 3 shows the harness in place around a suitcase.
Referring to the drawing, the semi-elasticated suitcase harness comprises two non-elasticated webbing or canvas or polyester or similar material side panels 10, two elasticated vertical webbing loops 11 and two elasticated horizontal webbing halfloops 12 as shown in Fig 1.
The elasticated loops and half-loops are joined to the non-elasticated panels by stitching or by adhesive or by riveting or by any other suitable method of joining, typically at the positions shown in Fig 2.
continued on sheet ... 2 In order to fit the harness on a suitcase, the horizontal half-loops 12 are stretched and positioned approximately at the centre of the height of the suitcase with the non-elasticated panels 10 centrally along the length of the sides. The vertical loops 11 are then stretched to take up the final position as shown in Fig 3.
To remove, the steps to fit the harness described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.

Claims (5)

1. A semi-elasticated suitcase harness comprising a single complete assemblage of elasticated webbing material and non-elasticated webbing or canvas or polyester or similar material.
2. A semi-elasticated suitcase harness as claimed in claim 1 is provided with two horizontal elasticated webbing half-loops and two vertical elasticated webbing loops to enable correct and tight fitting around a suitcase.
3. A semi-elasticated suitcase harness as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 is provided with two non elasticated webbing or canvas or polyester or similar material panels to maintain rigidity and a fixed distance between the two vertical elasticated webbing loops.
4. A semi-elasticated suitcase harness substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A semi-elasticated suitcase harness comprising elasticated webbing loops and half-loops suitably joined to non-elastic webbing or canvas or polyester or similar material side panels to form one complete semi-elasticated assemblage.
2. A semi-elasticated suitcase harness as claimed in claim 1 is provided with two horizontal elasticated webbing half loops and two vertical elasticated webbing loops to enable correct and tight fitting around a suitcase.
3. A semi-elasticated suitcase harness as claimed in claim 1 is provided with two non-elasticated webbing or canvas or polyester or similar material side panels to maintain rigidity and a fixed distance between the two vertical elasticated webbing loops.
4. A semi-elasticated suitcase harness as claimed in claim 1 in which the elasticated material loops and half-loops are secured to the non-elasticated material side panels by sewing or riveting or adhesive or any other suitable method of joining to form a complete single assemblage.
5. A semi-elasticatd suitcase harness substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawing
