Abstract
694,558. Pneumatic separating; centrifugal separators. AKT.-GES. FUR UNTERNEHMUNGEN DER EISENUND STAHLINDUSTRIE. March 26, 1952 [April 27, 1951], No. 7762/52. Classes 23 and 117 Material to be separated is fed by a funnel 3 to a distributing plate 2 attached to a rotary paddle wheel 1 and is thrown against a stationary deflector cone 4 and reduced to powder. It then trickles as a uniform film downwardly along the periphery of the wheel 1, is entrained by the air current produced by the fan 5, which is driven independently of the wheel 1, and is subjected to the action of the paddles of the wheel 1. Due to the suction produced by the fan a partial vacuum is produced in the space surrounding the wheel 1. The fine material is drawn into the interior of the wheel 1 and through the fan, which is provided with a housing of spiral shape communicating with an annular space 8 formed between two funnels 6 and 7, is flung into the space 8, and leaves, through an outlet 9. The coarser material falls into the inner funnel 6 and is discharged through an outlet 10.
