Abstract
693,825. Feeding webs. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and FOLLISS, C. Nov. 6, 1950 [Dec. 21, 1949], No. 32790/49. Class 100(i) Cord fabric 25 comprising a plurality of warp cords interwoven with spaced apart weft threads is fed through a festoon device before being passed through a treating bath 2. To prevent broken warp threads being carried round by rollers 10, inclined deflector plates 20 are provided, the ends of such plates contacting the peripheries of the rollers 10. Each plate 20 is supported by an angle iron 22 provided with end lugs which rest in vertical slots in horizontal girders 16 secured to end members 13 and 14, the slots permitting vertical movement of the plates 20. The festoon device comprises a series of rollers 9 rotatably mounted in girders 8 above the rollers 10 which are rotatably mounted in girders 12 secured to the members 13 and 14. The members 13 and 14 are slidable vertically between girders 6 and 7, such that when the length of the fabric in the festoon device decreases, as during the changing of a supply roll, the plates 20 and rollers 10 are raised.
