[Also in Group XXXII] In a die-casting machine, the two parts of the mould and the mould and the injection nozzle are moved together and lodked in operative position by a common driving member acting on the parts through linkages containing resilient members. In one form, Fig. 1, the mould comprises a fixed part 5 and a part 24 moved into operative position against the part 5 by a toggle 25, 26 actuated from a cam 31. A compression chamber 1 is suspended by eyes 6 from a horizontal carrier 7 supported by parallel levers 8 pivoted at 9 and operated by a lever 10 from a cam 13 so as to lower it' into the melting bath 2 and then move it into position with its nozzle 3 adjacent the fixed mould part. The chamber is then locked in this position by a bolt 14 actuated by a lever 17 from a cam 20. The three cams 13, 20, and 31 are mounted on a common shaft 32 and each is coupled to the respective lever by a linkage which includes a resilient member such as the coil springs 12, 19, 30. In a modification, Fig. 2, a toggle 25, 26 moves the mould parts together and a second toggle 35, 36 moves the mould carrier so that the mould part 5 contacts the nozzle 3. Both toggles are actuated from a common shaft through cams and resilient links. The resilient coupling may incorporate a torsion bar (see Group XXXII).
