Abstract

693,254. Automatic feed weighers. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T. April 7, 1952 [April 10, 1951], No. 8247/51. Class 143 [Also in Group XXX] Feed mechanism for automatic weighing apparatus, of the kind in which the final feed through a shoot 1 to the weighing receptacle is effected as a dribble, is characterized by a resiliently-mounted cut-off gate 2 carrying one part 6 of an electric vibrator mechanism which is operatively disposed in relation to the other part 7 when the gate 2 is in the closed position, leaving a dribble opening for control by the pivoted flap 9. The curved gate 2 is mounted by springs 3 on two pairs of arms 4 pivotally supported at 5. When a predetermined quantity of. the material has been fed to a weighing receptacle, the movement of the weighing apparatus trips a trigger mechanism to permit the gate 2 to swing closed. In this position, adjustable stops 8 are engaged by an arm 4 to ensure that the armatures 6 are operatively associated with electromagnets 7. These magnets are energized by alternating current with the result that the gate 2 is vibrated and effects a dribble feed over the edge 2a. When the correct weight is reached, a switch operates to open the circuit of a solenoid 11 allowing its armature 10 to fall and the flap 9 to close. A switch simultaneously breaks the circuit of the electromagnets 7.
