Abstract

692,861. Reservoir shaving brush. TIMOSKAINEN, A. Sept. 16, 1949, No. 23952/49. Class 19. A shaving brush comprises in combination a brush part, a handle part having a cavity and one or more holes on the bottom thereof and a lid mounted at the outer end of said handle-part and adapted to be pressed for squeezing soap from said cavity through said hole or holes, a rotatable sleeve connecting said brush part and handle part and encircling a space arranged between said brush part and handle part, a guidepiece consisting of an extensior of the handle part and having a transverse bore in which are arranged transverse piston ele ments, the transverse bore having one or more holes communicating with said brush part while the first mentioned holes communicate with the said bore thereby providing a passage for soap from said cavity to said brush part, said rotatable sleeve being provided with a shoulder or stop ring which, when the sleeve is rotated, actuates the piston elements for controlling the soap passing from said cavity to said brush part. In Fig. 1 a shaving brush has a brush part (1) and a handle (2) connected by a rotatably arranged annular sleeve (3). A baglike container of rubber or like material is held within the cavity (4) by a spiral spring (9) which presses the stiffening ring (8) against the bottom (5) of the cavity, the spring in turn being retained in the cavity by a lid (10) fitted with packing (11) and a mirror (12). The annular sleeve has a circular depression (15) and a hole (17) to accommodate pistons (20) and (20') and the end of a guidepiece (18), which is integral with the bottom, respectively. The guidepiece has a transverse bore (19) communicating with the interior of the container through holes (6) adapted to receive the fore parts of pistons (20) and (20'). The rear parts of the pistons are grooved and the pistons are arranged to be moved longitudinally by turning the annular sleeve thereby causing a stop or shoulder element (22) of oval shape to engage the grooved ends and push the pistons together or apart. The lid ring (13) is unscrewed, the container (7) is withdrawn, filled with shaving cream and replaced. On pressing the lid (10) soap is displaced through the holes (6) into the bore (19) when the pistons are positioned as shown. On turning the sleeve (3) the pistons (20) and (21') close the holes (6) and force the soap through a hole (26) a rubber valve (24) and a flexible extension (25). Prior to refilling the bore the pistons are pulled apart by turning the sleeve.
