Abstract
692,502. Brick-laying machines; bricklayers templets. BURKHARDT, O. W. Oct. 2, 1950 [Oct. 3, 1949; Nov. 7, 1949], No. 24017/50. Classes 20(ii) and 20(iv) A brick or block wall is built with the aid of two or more interchangeable templets to form successive courses of the appropriate bond, the mortar layer between the courses and in the vertical joints being filled mechanically after the templet has been raised. A scaffolding platform O is carried on a guide 2 sliding on telescopic pillars 1. To a horizontal arm 3, extending from the guide and vertically adjustable on a bar 4, are pivoted arms 6, 7, carrying frames 9, 10, which bear against the wall and to which templets 13, 14 are hinged. A mortar layer 16 is applied with the upper edges of the frames providing a guide for the thickness. Templet 14 is swung down from a vertical position to rest on the side walls of the frames and bricks are placed in the templet compartments. By means of a rope 19 the frame and templet structure is raised the height of a course, arms 6. 7 opening out slightly to contact stops 21, 22, by reason of the connection of links 20 outwardly of the arm pivots 8. The templet is then raised and mortar applied whereupon templet 13 is swung into position for the next course. A mortar hopper 28 is disposed over a centrifuge wheel 26 in a casing 27 supported on a carriage riding on the top edges of the frames. A stirrer or a vibrator 31 may be provided.
