Fig, 1, e.g. a valve stem, is reciprocable by diaphragms 5. 6 mounted in a casing 7 to form chambers 9. 11 supplied with pressure fluid e.g. compressed air, under the control of a pilot valve 40, Fig. 3, of a regulator 14 of the kind described in Specification 683,696. The loading pressure for a bellows 29, which pivots a beam 30 actuating the valve, is derived from a remotely located measuring instrument subject to a variable, e.g. fluid flow, and supplied through a conduit 28. Movement of the stem due to a change in loading pressure is transmitted back to the regulator by a link 25 which, through a lever 26, gears 38, 37, a cam 36, a bell-crank 35 and a spring 32 recentres the beam and hence the valve. An indicator 21 shows the position of the stem against a scale, and the stem is connected to the diaphragms through a block 3.
