692,316. Tractor front-axle suspensions. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR AKT.-GES. Nov. 29, 1950 [Jan. 13, 1950], No. 29264/50. Class 108 (ii). In a tractor having a front axle 1 pivotally mounted centrally in a support 6, itself spring- mounted with respect to the tractor frame 16, the spring mounting comprises helical springs 18, 19 mounted between outer and inner relatively-displaceable tubes 15, 8 connected respectively to the frame 16 and the support 6. The mounting 6 comprises a tube 6a welded to a plate 7 to which a pair of tubes 8 are bolted, and a plate 9 bolted at 10 to the upper ends of the tubes 8. The tube 6a forms a bearing for a pin 5 rigid with a sleeve forged in the centre of the axle 1. A member 13 pivotally supported on the tube 6 is connected by struts 14 with respective ends of the axle 1. The tube 15 has abutments at 17, 17a for the springs 18, 19 which are each enclosed by telescopic dustexcluding sleeves 20. The space within the tube 15 and between the spring may contain oil. Each end of the axle carries a king-pin for a steerable running wheel.
