Abstract
691,025. Viscometers. EPPRECHT, A. G. March 28, 1951 [April 14, 1950], No. 7168/51. Class 106 (ii). A viscosity meter, Fig. 1, comprises a measuring body 3 for dipping into a fluid to be tested, the measuring body 3 being mounted on the rotor shaft 2 of a synchronous electric motor whose stator 1 is supported by a shaft 4 coaxial with the rotor shaft 2 in a manner permitting the stator 1 to turn easily in an outer casing 10 against the force of a spring 13, this rotary deflection being a measure of the viscosity of the fluid under test and being indicated by a pointer 12, attached to the stator 1, moving over a scale 11. The measuring body 3 maybe surrounded by a tube 18 adapted to be slipped on to the casing 10 and having an aperture 17 in it serving as a mark for indicating the correct depth to which the meter should be lowered in the fluid to be tested. Alternatively, Fig. 2, the shaft 2 may be surrounded by a tube 21 removably attached to the casing 10, the tube 21 being capable of being placed on a separate measuring vessel 20 so that the measuring body 3 is correctly immersed in fluid contained therein, the amount of fluid being fixed by an overflow 22.
