272,251. Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Stickney, F. S.). June 7, 1926, [Convention date]. Testing and measuring viscosity of liquids.-A device for indicating the viscosity of a fluid, for instance varnishes, oils &c. comprises a rotatable drum 7 driven through gearing 2 - - 5 from a suitable motor 1, a viscosimeter drum 8 located coaxially with the rotatable drum, a pump 17 for circulating the liquid into the annular space between the drums, and means for resisting the torque transmitted through the liquid from the drum 7 to the drum 8. The apparatus may he mounted on a baseplate 19 on the top 21 of the tank. and both drums which depend into the liquid may be withdrawn with a cover 22 of an opening in the top of the tank. A shaft 9 secured to the drum 8 carries at the other end a pointer 13 moving over a scale 14. A spring resisting the torque is connected at the one end 15 to the frame and at the other end to the shaft 9. The centrifugal pump 17 is disposed in the drum 7.
