690,408. Batteries. EBONESTOS INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 28, 1952 [March 30, 1951], No. 7443/51. Class 53. A battery case of polyethylene is made as a single component with the lid but with one side or the base omitted. The plates, separators, and other elements are inserted and fixed in position through the open bottom or side which is then closed by a separately moulded plate of polyethylene which is heated to its softening temperaure and applied to the open side of the case and allowed to cool. The closing plate may be heated on a sheet of aluminium which is transferred to a jig and the open-ended case superposed on the plate and the jig closed to apply pressure. The case may also be heated before being applied to the softened plate.
