Abstract
Weed-killing granules, suitable for aerial distribution comprise a a carrier medium having a hormone substance intimately incorporated therewith formed into granules of a size such that they will pass through a 10 mesh B.S.S. sieve and will be retained on a 60 mesh B.S.S. sieve, the hormone constituting at least 0.1 per cent of the composition and being sufficient to render the composition herbicidal. Hormones specified are 2, 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid amines and sodium salts, 4 chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetic acid and 2, 4, 5 tri-chlorophenoxyacetic acid and their esters. The carrier may be clay, gypsum, lime or chalk or a fertiliser such as superphosphate especially fines from a granulation process and nitrogen or potash fertilizers. The hormones may be incorporated with the carrier substance by spraying a solution of the hormone on the carrier during granulation or mixing with the carrier prior to granulation. Specification 573,929, 574,274, 598,104, 598,105, 609,137, [all in Group VI], and 689,819 are referred to.ALSO:Weed-killing granules, suitable for aerial distribution comprise a carrier medium having a hormone substance intimately incorporated therewith formed into granules of a size such that they will pass through a 10 mesh B.S.S. sieve and will be retained on a 60 mesh B.S.S. sieve, the hormone constituting at least 0.1 per cent of the composition and being sufficient to render the composition herbicidal. The carrier may be clay, gypsum, lime or chalk or a fertiliser such as superphosphate and nitrogen or potash fertilisers. The hormones may be incorporated with the carrier substance by spraying a solution of the hormone on the carrier during granulation or mixing with the carrier prior to granulation. Methyl cellulose may be added as a binder. Specifications 573,929, 574,274, 598,104, 598,105, 609,137 and 689,819 are referred to.
