Abstract
689,216. Turbines. PURVIS, J. T. Jan. 16, 1951 [Jan. 21, 1950], No. 1192/51. Class 110(iii) Relates to mounting nozzle guide vanes 12 between the fixed inner and outer casings 10, 11 of a turbine in which the inner casing has a flange 15 formed with circumferentially spaced interruptions, such as teeth 24, and a radially extending flange 16 disposed downstream thereof. Each guide vane has an outer platform 19 clamped to the outer casing and an inner platform 20 which abuts the flange 16 and has an inwardly extending projection 21 in radial and axial slidable engagement with the teeth. The projections 21 are slotted to receive the teeth 24 and the outer platform is secured to a shroud ring 18 by a removable plate 29 bolted thereto. The outer platform has a flange 25 which abuts the casing 10 and has a right-angled flange 26 which has a slot 27 to receive a tooth on the ring 18. An insulating material is packed into the circumferential channels 17, 14 which are formed between the platforms 19, 20 and the casing 10, 11 respectively.
