Abstract

688,285. Load handling appliances; vehicle fittings. SHARP, J. R., and LANSING BAG- .\ALL,Ltd. May 16, 1951. [May 16, 1950] No. 12228/50. Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv). A portable ramp comprises sections 20. 12 and 24 hinged together so that it may be folded. The members 12 and 20 have vertical side members 13, 21 extending to the ground and vertical centre members 17 and 23. Stiffening members, 15, 16 and 18 extend along the sides and centre. The member 24 is arranged to be almost horizontal and the end 28 extends onto the vehicle floor. Catches 36 or projections under the end retain the ramp in position. Latches 32 secure the ramp in the folded position. The ramp may have wheels under the centre section for transport, and jacks for adjusting the height. The ramp may be in two parts the bottom part fitted with hinged stays which are lowered to the ground to lift the end and allow transport by a truck.
