Abstract

687,757. Supplying current to moving conductors. TOURTELLIER, M. Feb. 9, 1951, No. 3192/51. Class 38 (i). [Also in Group XXX] In a travelling multipolar collector installation in which several conductor rails are mounted side-by-side, each conductor rail 3 is provided with a separate insulating sheath 1, 47 which embraces also the collector roller 7 on the collector carriage. The sheath may be encased in a metal cover, Fig. 3 (not shown), or it may be flexible to enclose the rail only or both the rail and the carriage, thereby avoiding the harmful effects of the surrounding atmosphere, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). In the latter case, Figs. 11, 13, the rail 21 is enclosed by a two-part sheath of which the part 36 is rigid and the part 37 is flexible and is moved aside as at 371 by a tapered end 30 on the collector carriage 32.
