Abstract

686,277. Weather-excluders. MORRIS MOTORS, Ltd. Nov. 14, 1951 [Dec. 5, 1950], No. 29707/50. Addition to 645,558. Class 20(iii) In a draught &c. seal for doors &c. comprising a sealing element 1, 1A integral with a supporting portion 3, 3A folded into and embraced by a snugly fitting channel shaped flexible retaining strip 6 of thin metal which embraces the metal supporting flange 5, and secured by U- shaped anchoring clips 8 gripping the flange, the sealing element is constituted by a beading of sponge rubber. This sponge rubber element 1 may be bonded to one limb 2 of a flexible rubber supporting portion having a larger approximately parallel limb 3, or the two parts 1A, 3A of the seal may be integrally formed of sponge rubber and reinforced by a canvas backing 4. The retainer 6 may have an outer fabric covering 7. To prevent water absorption the sealing element is preferably covered with a skin of rubber or with a waterproofing preparation.
