Abstract

675,687. Draught &c. excluders. MORRIS MOTORS, Ltd. Feb. 6, 1951 [Feb. 7, 1950], No. 3091/50. Class 20(iii) Doors or windows are sealed against draughts &c. by means of a rubber or like resilient strip having an integral attachment portion 1 formed with a continuous longitudinal 1 groove 2 of approximately T-section the mouth of which is expansible to enable the attachment portion to be sprung on to a co-operating T-section rigid supporting structure 6 incorporated in the door &c. surround. The groove 2 divides the strip into two oppositely curved limbs, 3, 4 which are pulled apart to expand the mouth of the groove. Limb 4 forms the outer sealing element, and a similar curved flap 5, rooted at the junction of the part 1. to the limb 3 serves as the inner sealing element. The support 6 is established by forming marginal channels 7, 8, in co-operating body side panels, e.g. 9, 21, assembling the panels with channels 7 and 8 back to back, and spot welding the bases of the channels. The application of the strip to the four sides of the door surround and to the windscreen pillar is shown.
