Abstract
Transparent reflection-reducing coatings on glass are obtained by coating the glass with a suspension comprising transparent, colloidal particles of silica dispersed in a liquid solution containing a compound of zinc, titanium, tin, lead or manganese and then heating the glass at a temperature between its softening point so as to dissolve the metal of the metallic compound into the glass so attaching the silica thereto. Specified temperatures are from 500 to 700 DEG C and specified compounds, zinc acetate, tin chloride, manganese chloride, titanium tetrachloride and lead nitrate.
