Abstract

Cosmetic compositions such as brilliantines, toilet waters and perfumes which contain an ingredient that is normally unstable in sunlight contain monobenzoyl resorcinol in sufficient amount as a stabilizer. The composition may comprise a major proportion of mineral oil and a small proportion of a light-unstable oil-soluble dye together if desired with a mutual solvent consisting of propylene glycol monolaurate, glyceryl triricinoleate, octadecyl alcohol or cyclohexanone, or mixtures thereof, with or without a vegetable oil. Another composition comprises a perfume oil, a dye and an organic solvent such as aqueous ethyl alcohol. Other specified ingredients are glycerine and boric acid.
