Abstract

A cold application epilatory comprises (a) a resin, (b) a wax, (c) a plasticizer, (d) an antioxidant; and (e) an antiseptic that is wholly or substantially soluble or dispersible in a wax. Specified ingredients are (a) colophony; (b) beeswax, carnauba wax and synthetic waxes; (c) mineral oil and/or a high boiling ester such as di-octyl sebacate; (d) propyl gallate, mannitol, sorbitol, butylated hydroxy anisole, hydroquinone and its esters, ascorbic acid, tartaric acid, malic acid, p-hydroxy-benzoic acid and its esters, e.g. the propyl ester, tocopherols or extracts containing them, guaiacol, glutamic acid, lecithin and gallic acid; and (e) hexachlorophene. Mixtures of different waxes and of different antioxidants may be used. The epilatory composition may be packed between two sheets of plastics material such as polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, polythene, regenerated cellulose or polymethyl methacrylate.
