685,608. Colour photography. GANGUIN, K. O., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUS. TRIES, Ltd. Feb. 23, 1950 [Feb. 23, 1949],- No. 4914/49. Drawings to Specification. Class 98 (ii). A duplicate colour photographic record from which copies may be taken, designed to avoid repeated printing operations from a valuable original negative while minimizing progressive deteriation in colour fidelity, is made by exposing a true-colour colour-former multilayer film to light transmitted by an original false-colour colour record and processing by reversal. Preferably, the false-colour record used is made from a multilayer film having sensitivity-colour former combinations of blue-yellow, green-cyan and red-magenta; but any combination, as set out in a table showing all alternatives provided that the blue-sensitive layer is uppermost, may be used. The false-colour record used may be that of Specifications 685,607, 685,610, and 685,612, carrying respectively black and white, azo- and styryl-dyestuff colour correcting masks. An example repeats that of 685,607 but concludes by describing production of the duplicate colour record instead of running on directly to production of a positive from the camera film; and states that a positive made from such duplicate has much improved colour fidelity and saturation as compared with a positive resulting from true colour duplicate or master record procedure.
