684,364. Light filters for vehicles. ARENS, A. C. H. Oct. 5, 1950 [Oct. 5, 1949], No. 24352/50. Class 103 (ii). Apparatus for operating a light filter in a vehicle comprises a light filter 2 movably supported on apparatus 4 which enables the filter to be pivoted from the inoperative position shown to a vertical operative position by the core of a solenoid, said core abutting a helical spring at one end, both said core and said spring being surrounded by an induction coil, energized by a battery 8 and controlled by a footoperated switch 7 located sufficiently close to a separate switch 14 for controlling the headlights of the vehicle so that simultaneous operation of both switches is possible.
