Abstract

684.031. Leading-in conductors. SIEMENS ELECTRIC LAMPS & SUPPLIES, Ltd., and CUMMING, H. W. L. Dec. 18, 1950 [Dec. 16, 1949], No. 32380/49. Class 39(ii) [Also in Group XL(a)] In a quartz incandescent lamp, the filament 12 is electrically. connected through two steel members 9, 10 to the respective layers 13, 14 of molybdenum foil forming the lead-in conductors. These members 9, 10, which may be of mild steel, but preferably of stainless or silver steel are of semi-circular section and separated by a quartz part 11. They abut against the inner quartz member 4, round which is wrapped the two electrically separated layers of foil 13, 14 which ultimately connect to external terminals. The quartz envelope 1 is fused on to the foil-surrounded quartz part 4 to form the hermetic seal. Fig. 2 (not shown) is a modified form having a single lead-in path to one electrode of a discharge lamp.
