683,878. Casks and drums. BENSON, E. H. Aug. 23, 1951 [Sept. 8, 1950]. No. 19916/51. Class 21 A metal drum has its filler opening 22, Fig. 2, in its side wall and a pair of rolling rings 28 formed by expanding the side wall, the inner surfaces being made flush with the side walls by sealing rings 30 welded at 32 so that liquid does not remain in the corrugations when the drum is emptied. The filler opening is formed by a flange or spout 18; Fig. 3, reversely bent and having a thread 20 to receive a screwin-plug 22. A vent opening 24 similar to the filter opening is provided in the head and is served by a channel 26 so that it can be used for emptying.
