Class 20(iv) The surface of matured concrete e.g. that of a road is roughened by rolling a coarse abrasive under heavy pressure against it. A smooth-faced steel plate 1 with slightly bevelled ends on the lower face has crossbars 3 on the top for respective engagement with the front edge 4 of a bulldozer blade 5 and a channel-iron 6 bolted to the rear of the blade. Chilled steel shot 8 of grain size between # and “ inch may be used as abrasive. A modification for more continuous use employs slab or kentledge load the weight of which is transmitted by levers to the mid points of four ganged pressure plates. The wheels of a platform carrying the slab are screw-mounted enabling the plates to be lifted clear of the concrete.
