Abstract
683,098. Vibratory mechanisms. LIVING- STON CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd. Dec. 6, 1950, No. 29877/50. Class 80 (iv). The vibratory mass 35 of a vibrator is movable in the direction of its axis of rotation to an operative position (shown in broken line) in which it lies at an angle to this axis. The mass 35 is pivoted to the upper end of a rotary shaft 36 and, when inoperative, rests in a bush 46 carried on the upper end of a sleeve 47. The sleeve rotates with the shaft 36 and bears at its lower end against a spring 50 which is compressed when the shaft 36 is moved to start the vibrations. The longitudinal movement of the shaft 36 is limited by a pin 62 engaging a slot 63 in the shaft. The shaft is moved by means of a treadle (not shown) which acts on an end bearing 59 at the bottom of the shaft. Lubricating oil, fed from an oil pot 64 by a wick 65, is collected, after passage through the vibrator, in a sump 66. The vibrator may be used in a pipe-making machine.
