Abstract

682,578. Magnetic holding and picking-up tools. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. June 15, 1951 [July 18, 1950], No. 14296/51. Class 61 (ii). [Also in Group XXV] A steel, spring clip for locking bolt-like pins is applied by means of a hand tool having legs 40, that engage grooves 18 in the clip situated adjacent reverse bands 28. The tool has a central bore 36 to admit the pin, and a transverse slot 38 so that it may be magnetized with the legs as opposite-poles. After the clip has been picked up by the tool and applied by axial pressure the tool enables it to be rotated about the pin causing the edges of the tongues 24 to bite into the pin to a greater extent.
