Abstract
A size for textiles, e.g. nylon, is made by dissolving a complex formed between a protein colloid, e.g. gelatine, and an anion soap or an organic sulphonic acid having a highly hydrophobic radicle in its anion, in a liquid containing an organic solvent for the complex. The anion soap may be primary undecyl sodium sulphate, dodecyl sodium sulphate or dibutyl phenyl phenol sodium disulphonate. The size may contain complexes prepared as described in Specifications 580,504, 585,758, 585,759 and 651,318, [all in Group XX]. The liquid may be aqueous ethyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol or toluene.
