Abstract

682,246. Bridles for bristles. COPLANS, J. Sept. 13, 1950 [Oct. 18, 1949], No. 26664/49. Class 19. Guide means for use with a brush suitable for letter ing, design decoration, and art work, comprises a hol low body portion for fitting around the brush, two blades, projecting from the body portion the blades serving to lie one on either side of the head of the brush so that such blades extend along each side of the brush head almost to the tips of the bristles to limit the spreading of the bristles beyond the distance between the blades, and having means for releasably securing the guide means to the brush. In the Figure the guide means 4 comprises a hollow rectangular sectioned portion 5, and two blades 6, the body portion 5 fitting over the bristle holder of the brush and being secured in.position by a set screw 7. The blades 6 may have longitudinally directed grooves, Fig. 3 (not shown), formed in the inner faces thereof to assist the flow of paint or ink towards the tips of the bristles when the brush is in use. The guide may be attached to round or other shaped brushes, the shape of the blades being altered accordingly. The brush may be provided with a reservoir secured to the handle 3 for containing paint or ink, means being provided for conveying the paint or ink to the bristles.
