Abstract
681,972. Railway motor vehicles. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.- GES. May 29, 1951 [March 23, 1949, July 7, 1949, May 16, 1949], No. 12630/51. Classes 79 (iii) and 79 (iv) A rail vehicle comprises a body, at least one bogie supporting the body and pivotally connected thereto, and an engine driving unit on the bogie, the driving unit being attached to a frame supported by the bogie and the arrangement being such that the driving unit follows the movements of the body. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the bogie frame 1 is pivotally connected to the vehicle body 16 by a central pin 2. The engine 4 and an electric generator 5 or other equipment such as gearing are rigidly mounted on the driving unit frame 6 which is suspended by means of ball joint pendulums 7, 8, 9, 10 in the bogie frame 1. The frame 6 is laterally guided in the body 16 by means of abutments 11 ... 14 and is guided in a fore and aft direction by an abutment 15. In a modification only the engine is mounted in the driving unit frame which has a three or four point pendular suspension in the bogie frame. In another embodiment, Fig. 5, the driving unit frame 25 carrying the engine 4 is mounted by two ball joint pendulums 26 on the bogie frame 1 and also by means of rollers 27 mounted in a guideway 28 connected to the frame 25 by a ball pin 29, sleeve springs 30 preventing lifting of the frame 25 and the rollers 27 having annular flanges co-operating with the sides of an arcuate track 31 on the bogie frame 1. The frame 25 is guided by projections 32 in the body 33 of the vehicle. Free space between the frame 25 and body 33 is covered by aprons to prevent dust etc. entering the body. In a further embodiment, Fig. 10, the frame 45 carrying the engine is mounted in the bogie frame 1 by means of pendulums 46 having rubber connectors, a pin support D' between the pendulums 46 and a roller 49 running on a path on the bogie frame, so that the frame 45 can move about the pin D<SP>1</SP> relative to the frame 1, the frame 45 being connected to the body by a link 51. The pendulums and roller may be replaced by simple slideways.
