Abstract

1509432 Rail vehicle bogies H N K PATON and J B SKILLING 18 March 1975 [3 April 1974 (2)] 50940/77 Divided out of 1509431 Heading B7L A rail vehicle bogie has an H frame formed by side frames 50 interconnected by a beam 54, the beam being torsionally flexible to allow relative oscillation of the frames 50 in parallel vertical planes but being stiff to prevent the frames angling inwardly towards each other and to prevent the frames from moving horizontally in parallel planes. The beam is connected to the side frames to transfer loading forces from a body supported on a bolster 16 by a pivot P from which is resiliently received by the beam. The centre pin receiving arrangement 52 of the beam includes an elastomeric ring 52c between a ring 52a formed in the beam and a sleeve 52b about the pivot pin P. The bogie may be provided with the suspension system of parent Specification 1,509,431 and include the continuous bearing arrangement 53 described therein. The invention of Specification 1,509,431 is disclosed.
