In a ball-point reservoir pen the reservoir is closed against the admission of air and has at least an area of its walls of such a character as to be capable of responding to a diminution in the volume of the reservoir contents, and has a filling orifice at a location remote from the writing extremity, which orifice is normally closed to prevent escape of ink but through which ink may be introduced into the reservoir when required. The writing extremity is screwed into the outer end of an adaptor which at the inner end fits into a casing 1, and has a neck portion to receive one end of a flexible tubular. ink sac 8. The other end of the sac 8 is fitted on to a plug member 10 secured within the casing 1 by a screw 11. The sac 8 may be flaccid, or such as to be distended when filled and to exert a slight pressure on its contents, as described in Specification 633,821. The refilling means comprises a valve tube 14 which extends through the plug 10 into the sac 8 where it is provided with holes 16 and a rubber &c. tube 15 to constitute a non-return valve, through which ink may be forced into the reservoir sac, from a collapsable tube, for example. The bore of the tube 14 and the holes 16 are of capillary size. The usual lever-operated means may be used to refill the ink sac, in which case the non-return valve means 15, 16 is dispensed with, and a plain open-ended tube fitted in the plug 10. The outer open end of this tube is normally sealed by the engagement therewith of a resilient disc in the interior of the cap 13.
