680,722. Undercarriages. ELECTRO-HYDRAULICS, Ltd., and PERDUE, J. Dec. 8, 1950. [Sept. 22, 1949] No. 24397/49. Class 4. [Also in Group XXIX] A steerable and castoring undercarriage leg 33 has pivotally connected thereto hydraulic jacks 31, 32 of the type wherein fluid pressure supplied to one or the other end of the jack cylinder moves the jack to one or the other end of its stroke while fluid pressure applied to both ends simultaneously moves the jack to an intermediate position (see Group XXIX). The hydraulic circuit comprises a storage tank 40, a pump 41, an undercarriage selector 52, and a steering selector 164. When the undercarriage selector is operated to feed pressure fluid to the undercarriage down line 53 the fluid will also flow through conduit 55 through valves 170 and 171 in the steering selector so that the leg 33 can be steered when the undercarriage is lowered. When the undercarriage selector 52 is selected for the raising of the undercarriage fluid pressure will pass from conduit 54 to conduit 56, through valves 169 and 172 and conduits 38 and 39 into the jacks 31 and 32 to act on both sides of each jack and thus centre the leg 33. If it is desired to allow for castoring over 360 degrees the jacks may be pivotally mounted opposite each other and be connected to a common pivot 8 on the leg 33.
