680,240. Temperature-responsive actuating- elements. MAIN WATER HEATERS, Ltd. Feb. 13, 1951 [Feb. 13, 1950], No. 3659/50. Class 64 (ii) [Also in Group XXIX.] In a valve in which the stem 17 is reciprocated in a bearing 18 by a U-shaped bimetal strip 19, each limb of which is forked, the ends of the strip have inturned lugs 23, 24 which are pivotable in holes 30, 25 in a stem collar 29 and the bearing 18 respectively to prevent the stem binding in the bearing. Alternatively the forked extremity of the limb 21 may loosely engage a circumferential groove in the collar.
