Abstract

679,825. Hydraulic gears. RILEY (ROCHDALE), Ltd. T. W., and DIGGLE, S. T. Jan. 20, 1950 [Dec. 23, 1948], No. 33103/48. Class 69 (ii) [Also in Group VIII] In a fluid-operated drive for a pile-raising machine (see Group VIII), fluid-operated motors 19, 20 are driven by oil under pressure from a pump 16. Valves 24, 23 are arranged to bye-pass oil past motors 19, 20 respectively in accordance with the resistance in each motor circuit as determined by the setting of valves 21, 22 by handwheels 25, 26. Valves 21, 22 thus control the speed of the respective motors and by shutting down either valve the corresponding motor can be stopped. An oil storage tank 18 and a non-return valve 27 are utilised. The valves are provided with pressure-balancing pilot lines 39 ; sealed drains 40 return any leakage to tank 18.
