Class 108(i) A refuse vehicle comprises a body 10 carried by a sub-frame 12 which is connected to the vehicle so that it can be turned about an axis at or near one of its ends to tip the body in one sense, the body being also connected to the sub-frame at or near the other end so that it can be tipped in the opposite sense independently of the sub-frame, means being provided for locking the body to the sub-frame. In the embodiment shown a subframe 12 is pivoted to the body at 16 and to the main frame at 14. A ram 18 is pivoted to the main frame and acts on the body 10 near its centre. A bolt 22, Fig. 4, may be projected by means of a lever 26 and linkwork 32 into a hole 24 in a bracket attached to the body in order to lock the body to the sub-frame. Operation of the ram 18 then tips the body rearwardly. On withdrawing the bolt 22 from the hole 24, the handle 26 engages beneath plates 30 and locks the sub frame to the main frame. The body 10 may then be tipped forward by means of the ram 18 to clear the contents from the loading opening at the rear of the body.
